I want to talk for a couple of minutes about a subject that isn't fun, or nice, or entertaining.

Emotional abuse.

As some of you know, I've been a victim of emotional abuse in several relationships. It's a pattern that develops over time and is ugly and toxic. It has long-lasting consequences.

I don't want to get into the specifics of my own relationships because this is a public post. But let me just say that I still have issues relating to my past relationships. ]

Like other kinds of abuse, emotional abuse often contains elements of victim-blaming. "It's your fault I am doing this! If you weren't such a stupid bitch, I wouldn't have to!"

I think that most people in the world are familiar with the concept. So imagine my surprise when I turned on the radio and heard this song:

I totally owe an actual update. So here is one.

I have just left a bunch of communities. I found myself scrolling over the entries more often than not and it wasn't worth the extra time. So if you used to know I was in a community and now I'm not, that's why.

On Saturday, I'm going to have my wisdom teeth taken out. I'm a little nervous, but I'm trying just not to think about it.

So pray for me or think happy thoughts for me on Saturday.

I am taking an aerobics dance class this summer. It is kicking my ass, quite literally. It's just the first week and my legs are freaking killing me. BUT.... I will get into better shape and stop hurting to badly. I have faith in that.

After almost 3 years at the theatre box office, I have put in my notice. I got a new weekend job as the weekend receptionist at a country club and will be working there Saturday and Sunday for the foreseeable future.

It's kind of strange to think of all that I've seen and done since I worked up there. A couple different relationships have come and gone. I've gotten a car. I've moved... a lot of times.

Weird.

But the new job will be good. It's more money and more hours. And they give me free lunch! It's kind of a bizarre throw-back to the times when country club employees lived on property and they had to provide lunch. I like it. I feel a little weird working at a country club, but I'm getting over it.

I'm in this weird headspace where I'm starting to become used to being single again (finally), but then I realize that and then I realize that that's usually the time when I meet someone and then I start to think about meeting someone and then I'm suddenly not so okay with being single and the process starts all over again. Every couple of weeks. It's exhausting.

Since we last spoke, The Iowa Supreme Court Legalized Gay Marriage.

Also, today Vermont's Legislature Over-rode The Governor's Veto making gay marriage legal in Vermont, also.

So those are two good things.

I also turned 25.

I had a roller skating party. It went well, except for... well, about 5 minutes into it, a friend of mine fell and fractured his leg in two places.

But he's home from the hospital as of yesterday!

*sighs* I broke him....

Next year, he's not invited!!
